A bespoke touch for rapid sales training

Telio, Scandinavia’s number one IP-based telecoms vendor came to Eaktiv with a challenge. They were about to start selling solutions through a new channel: Expert, a leading Norwegian electronics retail chain.

 

“We’re launching in three weeks. What can you do for us?”

 

Telio was bundling its services with its most advanced telephone, the Telio Touch, a high-end touch-screen telephone with functionality extended by apps.

 

A three-week training challenge

 

We’re launching in three weeks,” they said, “and by then we need to have trained all of the sales representatives. What can you do for us?”

Not being the kind of company to back off from a challenge, we decided to give it our best shot.

 

A double-edged solution

Our solution had to meet two criteria: first, it had to stand out from the crowd. The target group is so bombarded with information that we had to be different just to get through the static. Second, we had to produce that solution fast, and in a way that allowed for last-minute changes.

 

With such a short delivery deadline we had to start developing content straight away, so we decided to produce all of it in Mohive eLPS.

 

But we also wanted a ‘stand-out’ design, so we worked on this as a parallel process, aiming to join everything together neatly come the deadline. No pressure then!

We came up with a custom skin for the course that mimics the touch screen of the Telio Touch, with the different chapters of the e-learning presented as clickable apps.

 

Rapid results

I’m happy to say that we delivered on time and on budget, with total resources of about 100 hours required to complete the job, including developing the skin.

 

It’s possible to meet some ‘bespoke’ e-learning requirements without sacrificing speed and robustness.

 

We were even able to include two separate rounds of Quality Assurance in the three-week development period, and delivered the result with a bundled tracking solution from our partners Inkrement.

 

For us, this project demonstrated that it’s possible to meet some of the customer requirements more traditionally associated with bespoke e-learning, without sacrificing the speed and robustness of a ‘rapid’ e-learning platform.

 

Of course, six weeks later Telio decided to change their entire price plan. Luckily, because we created the training in Mohive, we were able to rewrite and republish the content in a matter of days.
